Engr 1201:  Introduction to Engineering

A large portion of your grade will come from completing three projects and a final projects.  Click on the links below to view the corresponding project in pdf format.

Project 1.  The purpose of the first project is to get students looking at the world around you for the results of engineering. There are six options, focusing on Mechanical, Computer, Electrical, Systems, Materials, and Industrial engineering.

Project 2.  The purpose of the second project is to help prepare students for landing a job in engineering. Students will be asked to find an open job description for a company they would like to work for. Then they must prepare a resume, and interview with me for that job.

Project 3.  The purpose of the third project is to guide students through the design process. The goal is to design a bridge that meets certain requirements and to document their design.

Final Project.  The final project requires students to choose from a list of relevant topics and give a presentation to the class on that topic. They must also conduct a small engineering experiment, write a one-page professional profile of themselves, dated 10 years into the future, and write responses to a list of questions regarding their academic and career goals.
